Spotted: Gener8 Floats Out Another VLCC

first_imgThe image above shows Gener8 Oceanus, a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) being built for crude oil shipping company Gener8 Maritime, before its launching at the South Korean Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries’ (HSHI) shipyard last weekend.The 300,000 dwt Gener8 Oceanus is one of 21 ECO VLCCs featuring eco engines, which will be added to the company’s fleet.The vessel is slated for delivery in September this year.Eight vessels, including Gener8 Oceanus, will join the company’s fleet in 2016, with two more vessels expected in 2017.As of July 27, Gener8 Maritime has a fleet of 45 wholly-owned vessels on a fully-delivered basis. Talks held on independent commissions

Discussions have begun on appointing independent commissions after the Constitutional Council is fully established, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said.He said that the Constitutional Council will begin meeting with the existing members while the remaining members will be appointed later. The Speaker said that the Constitutional Council will look to speed up the process of appointing independent commissions. He also said that talks have already begun to create a new constitution and also a new electoral system. Jayasuriya said that several important bills which could not be presented to the last Parliament, including the Right to Information Act, will be presented to Parliament soon. (Colombo Gazette)
